Decisions suck.
I know i can go out and essentially guarantee depression-removal by attending the Golgotha Labour Day Eve thinggy. If i do that, i can't be out for very long, because I need to get up early-ish tomorrow, before 8am. It would basically be 45 mins of driving, an hour of dancing and fun times, and 45 mins of driving back. Total cost... hard to calculate with current utterly unprecedented petrol prices.

On the other hand, i can stay home tonight. I can't think of anything to do. I can almost guarantee some level of depression, and my evening will essentially be "how can i distract or numb myself just enough so that i don't notice the time passing." It may be difficult to sleep, so the need to be up early will remain unaffected. (In fact, I will probably be up much later tonight with insomnia, without the depression-removal (and physical exhaustion) of Golgotha to allow sleep.) But the total cost would be zero dollars.

It seems like a no-brainer, but my Austudy payment tomorrow is almost guaranteed to be about half what i need to keep being able to attend uni (on account of how my partner makes money, and naturally, i own her and make sure that she pays me half of everything she makes). So i have to ration my money out, and I could save it for next Saturday, when DV8 may be on and I will be able to stay out ALLLL night instead of just an hour or so.

Sigh.

I need to not live here anymore.

I also need a weather machine.

1) *hugs*
2) how are the moving plans going?
3) anything awesome and audiovisual you can distract yourself with tonight if you(/have) decide(/d) to stay home?
4) stupid weather
5) my brain is being stupid and i keep falling asleep, which makes it difficult to do anything that makes me feel good. so, empathy.

1) much hugs back :)
2) am just waiting for my financiers to get paid so i can mooch off them... its really up to the peoples with the moneys. I'm just the tagalong, hehe.
3) I like your thinking. I have, like, more than half a season of Xena that i've never seen before. Maybe that...
4) I don't know if the thunderstorms are an adequate trade-off. They're not frequent enough lately, dammit. Stupid drought.
5) We almost have opposite problems with the same depressy results, don't we?

wanna swap? i'll take some of your Awake and you can have some of my Asleep (to be used at an appropriate time, of course). Xena sounds good. i always enjoy it when i watch it (which hasn't been very much, admittedly). S has been watching a lot of West Wing, which is good, but also requires more brainpower than i've had recently. it's ok though 'cause i've seen them all before so it's not like i have to concentrate to understand what's going on. i just don't feel like i can engage though, which is icku.
thunderstorms are good when i'm not cuahgt in them/don't have to be dry and they don't make our place of residence leak. that's only happened once, though.
what do you like to eat for protein? i have tofu in the fridge but it's plain and i don't think i have the mental energy/automatic knowledge to make it tasty.

Tofu is good when soaked in curry suace (or, i guess, any sauce that you like). And/or cut into chunk and mixed around in lovely, warm fresh white rice. (I'm stealing the recipe from Don Dons...)

I love Xena so much. There's not enough slapstick on TV anymore... or... any.

By the way, i think our Pflug paper is not as vital for translating as i thought it was. It turns out his ideas on Pteridinium where a little bit "more inference than observation", to put it delicately. So not as vital to have a translation (which is good, since the translatey person at uni can't do it anymore anyway due to PhD constraints).

On the other hand, the idea that he had a wacky idiosyncratic perspective makes me want to translate them even more. He is the sort of person that Steven Jay Gould would be translating, and then writing an essay on how he was misunderstood by English readers and the theoretical beauty of his hypotheses are something to be loved and cherished like intellectual chocolate cake, even if they were not so much factually based.

any thoughts here?
(i think it's really hard to tell from th article, because the student very well could have been cheating/violating university policy, but the whole thing does seem rather sticky (and even if they did why are they being charged with more than 1 count of academic misconduct??) and i agree with the comment someone left about learning and stuuff. and Vygotsky's ZPD stuff.

but i do think it's important that people don't forget the differences between CMC and f-to-f communication.

also, blargh, because i always felt a bit uncomfrtable (As well as awesome spurty knowledge learny) at uni when we did unofficial study group stuff and there was an assignment - we never shared answers but we did talk about the specific concepts involved in the assignment - pf *course* we did. it's about learning and most peole learn better (at least in some situations) with others. weeeeeird. also i have to tell you guys more about the wiki thing one of my subhjects is using this semester.
